Preschool Adventures

ARC started Preschool Adventures in 2006 in response to the need for early intervention for children ages 2 - 6 with a diagnosis of ASD. The program runs Monday - Friday from 9:00 am - 3:00 pm. July 4 to August 18, 2011. There is a maximum of 15 children/week in Preschool Adventures program. Each client  who is on Intensive or Consultative Services can register for a maximum of six weeks. Waitlist clients can register for a maximum of five weeks.  If space remains after registration night, participants on the ARC waitlist can register for an additional week.

The focus of Preschool Adventures is on developing functional communication, play skills, independence, and managing challenging behaviour. Participants are paired with a one-to-one trained worker. The daily structure involves individualized and pre-academic programming and includes one recreational outing. The mornings are dedicated to tabletop teachings and the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS).  The afternoon activity is where social play will take place.
