Therapeutic Interventionist

Interventionists are allotted $30.00 - $35.00 per month for client-related expenses and are reimbursed $0.38/km for client-related travel.

Additional Information:
Times vary from late afternoon - early evening
Interventionists are paid an additional half hour each session for writing case notes

The Therapeutic Intervention Program which runs year-round and is offered to individuals receiving intensive services from ARC. Interventionists are paired with an individual with ASD, ranging in age from 19 - 25 years old. The Therapeutic Interventionist works with their client(s) once per week for a maximum of three hours. The program can take place in either the client’s home or in the Interventionist’s home, and in the community.
Interventionists are trained individually by an ARC Developmental Consultant, who accompanies them on the first few outings. Regular supervisions by the Program Coordinator will also be included throughout the program. There is a possibility for Interventionists to work with more than one client; however, this is considered after a three-month employee probation period.
Areas that are focused on in the Therapeutic Intervention Program include communication, social, and play skills, vocational skills, meal-making abilities, academics, increasing overall independence, and managing challenging behaviour.
Qualifications:
M  - Must be able to make a consistent weekly commitment for a minimum of six months
 - Must enjoy working with children/youth and be willing to learn new communication skills
 - Must be enthusiastic, energetic with outgoing personalities
 - Must have knowledge of or interest in Autism Spectrum Disorder (experience working with individuals with special needs is preferred, but not essential)
 - Must have completed or be working towards completion of a University degree or College diploma in a related field
 - Must own a vehicle with third party liability insurance

Duties:

Interventionists are required to:
 - report to the ARC Developmental Consultant and Program Coordinator
 - adhere to the ARC Confidentiality Contract
 - implement their assigned client’s Individual Planned Program (IPP) as developed by the ARC Developmental Consultant
 - complete notes per each session, timesheets, expense sheets and advance planning sheets, which are handed into the Developmental Consultant at the end of each month
 - attend training sessions that are offered throughout the year

Salary: $12.75 - $13.25 to start. Wages are reviewed quarterly and increases are given based on each six months of employment with ARC.
